BJP accuses Congress leaders of misleading Goans on Mhadei issue

PANAJI

BJP Goa President Damu Naik accused Congress leaders of attempting to mislead Goans over the Mhadei river dispute, alleging that their silence on the issue exposed their intentions.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Naik said the leaders who visited Goa to participate in the yatra, should have addressed the Mhadei issue.

“He (LoP of Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi) should have played his role. Even Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who had come to Goa to participate in the yatra, should have also spoken on Mhadei, but they are all silent,” Naik said.

He also questioned why Rahul Gandhi did not mention the Mhadei dispute during his speech, alleging that the issue had been deliberately ignored.

Naik claimed that Goans were aware of what he described as an attempt to mislead them, adding that the people of the state were educated and understood the issue.

Asked whether the yatra would have any impact on the BJP, Naik replied, “Absolutely not.”
