BJP backs Wagh’s book

State unit claims Parrikar has assured to file closure report

PANAJI
Coming out openly in support of former State Legislative Assembly Speaker Vishnu Surya Wagh, State Unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that there is nothing objectionable in ‘Sudirsukt', a collection of poems written by Wagh. State BJP has also claimed that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has assured to file a closure report after taking expert opinion.
Hitting out at Auda Viegas of Bailancho Ekvott, BJP leader and Gomantak Bhandari Samaj President Anil Hoble said, "She has said that there are derogatory comments used in his collection of poems. I dont think. In the past, Pundalik Naik and Mauzo have also written such books. Nobody till date has done an FIR or censorship on them."
Informing that he personally took up the issue with CM Parrikar, Hoble said, "I personally spoke to our Chief Minister who had released the book. He CM had assured that he will look into the investigation and file closure report in the case after taking expert opinion. He has given me a clear assurance that he doesn't want the case to be dragged. I had gone to him on behalf of Bahujan community. People from our community were questioning me on this issue, so I had no other option than to approach CM and ask him about it."
Speaking on the content in the poems, which is alleged to be derogatory, he justified, "When I was a bus owner, we used to speak to drivers, conductors and cleaners in the same language and they used to understand it better. Till date the same language is used by people from Bahujan community. And Vishnu too has used the same language in his poems. I have read the book and there is nothing objectionable in it." Strongly stating that the move by Auda Viegas is wrong, he said, "She has woken up now to file the complaint. I want to ask Auda where she was all this while? Vishnu's health condition has deteriorated. He cannot even speak properly. So Auda complaining at this juncture is not justified. If today Vishnu was in proper health conditions, he wouldn't have even required anyone to reply on his behalf."
Indirectly hitting out at social activist Aires Rodrigues, he said, "Somebody has commented that he will approach the court and ask her to withdraw the FIR. Then why doesn't that person request her only to withdraw the FIR?"
