CANACONA
The BJP organised cleanliness drives all over Canacona taluka on Saturday, to mark the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Dy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes garlanded the portraits of Gandhi and Shastri at a brief function in the Loliem-Polem panchayat in the presence of Sarpanch Sachin Naik, panch members Nishant Prabhudessai, Bhushan Prabhugaongkar, Ajay Lolienkar, and others.
Later, Fernandes took part in the cleanliness drive organised by the panchayat in the village.
Elsewhere, Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Simon Rebello along with Dy Chairperson Amita Pagui, Councillors Sara Dessai, Narcisco Fernandes, Laxuman Pagui, Shubham Komarpant and Ramakant Naikgaunkar and Chief Officer Udhay Prabhudessai also took part in cleanliness drives.
Former minister Ramesh Tawadkar took part in a cleanliness drive at Gaondongrim in the presence of BJP South Goa Vice President Mahesh Naik.
In Cotigao, Sarpanch Ulhas Gaonkar, some panchas and youths moved around the village and collected plastics, while pruning branches protruding on roads, while the Agonda Sports Club along with youth also held a plastic collection and road cleanliness drive in the village.
Cleanliness drives were organised in near the Madditolop crematorium at Loliem-Polem, from the house of Dr Aiya to the bazaar road in Poinguinim, Khalwadem-Shrishthal
The Canacona BJP Block felicitated around 25 families by visiting their houses in various parts of Canacona for maintaining cleanliness in their surrounding.
