The BJP launched the ‘Seva Saptah’ with tree plantations, blood donation, visit to old age homes etc in Bardez to commemorate the 70th birth anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza planted a sapling in Nachinola panchayat garden as part of the all Goa programme.
“Our party has decided to have various programmes not only in Goa but all over the country to mark the celebration of our PM’s 70th birthday. The Nachinola panchayat has organised this tree plantation drive and we will be distributing fruits and cake to old-age homes in Mapusa,” said Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza, who presided over the event in absence of Aldona MLA Glen Ticlo.
The BJP has been celebrating PM’s birthday week as ‘Seva Saptah’ since 2014. This year, the week started from September 14 and will continue till September 20.
Vice-President of North Goa District BJP, Franky Carvalho informed that the party celebrated PM’s every year but this year it was different due to the pandemic.
“On account of rising Covid-19 cases we have decided to conduct small programmes at different places to celebrate the PM’s birth anniversary,” Carvalho said.
Nachinola Sarpanch Pooja Mayenkar, Deputy Sarpanch Freddy Fernandes, Aldona BJP Block President Vinay Chopdekar and others were present on the occasion.
Earlier, the North Goa District BJP office bearers along with Mapusa MLA, Joshua D’Souza cut a cake in the district office in Mapusa to commemorate the occasion.
North Goa District BJP President Mahanand Asnodkar informed that the party has chalked out several programmes on the occasion of the PM’s birth anniversary.
“Since it is our PM’s 70th birthday, several programmes like planting of 70 saplings, distributing spectacles to 70 people, providing wheelchairs to 70 disabled persons etc. have been scheduled in different areas during the week,” Asnodkar said.
He said several such programmes were being held in all the 20 constituencies in North Goa.
Mapusa Municipal Council Chairperson Ryan Braganza, Councillor Sushant Harmalkar and others were present.
The Tivim BJP mandal along with local MLA Nilkant Halarnkar distributed grocery items, cake, masks etc to old age home in Pirna.
Tivim BJP Mandal President Vishwanath Khalap, ZP Govind Kubal and Diksha Kandolkar, Pirna Sarpanch Mita Naik, BJP State mahila secretary, Sapna Mapari and others were also present on the occasion.
