Even as the Congress is yet to unveil party candidate for the Davorlim seat, the BJP kicked off its campaign for the Davorlim seat on Friday, with Party State president Damu Naik and Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar making impassioned plea to party workers to work hard to retain the seat.

Accompanied by party candidate Satyavijay Naik, Damu, Ulhas and sitting ZP member Paresh Naik along with workers sought blessing of Goddess Shantadurga at the Shantinagar temple before flagging off the election campaign.

Addressing the party workers, State BJP president Damu said that party workers should put in hard work to retain the seat. “The BJP had won the seat in the 2020 election and had retained the seat in the by-poll. It’s now time for the party workers to go to the people to drum up support for the party candidate Satyavijay Naik,” he said.

In his address, the Navelim MLA urged the party workers to bring awareness about the development schemes of the Central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the schemes launched by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the development work ushered in Navelim during the last three years.

“The BJP had won the Davorlim ZP seat in the past. We have to put in hard work to retain the seat,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Congress is yet to unveil party candidate for the Davorlim ZP seat. Though the party leader from Navelim Cipru Cardozo had proposed the name of Aquem-Baixo Sarpanch Danny Fernandes as the candidate for Davorlim, the party is yet to take a call till date.
