A galaxy of BJP leaders, led by State president and Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar, besides party MLAs will descend in Digambar Kamat's Margao constituency to strengthen the party organisation at the booth level.
While the leaders will come down to the constituency as part of the party's Booth Vistarak Yojna, local BJP leaders in private said the party leadership is serious in re-establishing itself in Margao, where the party has not been able to regain the seat since Digambar Kamat quit the party to embrace the BJP in 2005.
South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, MLAs Nilesh Cabral and Carlos Almeida, and party leaders Sunil Desai, Sadanand Tanavade, former MLA Subhash Faldesai and other leaders, including party general secretary Damu Naik, will virtually camp in Margao Municipal Council, beginning from November 4 as part of the exercise to take the party's policies and programmes at the booth level.
Of the 38 polling booths spread across Margao constituency, the BJP was believed to have taken a lead in only four booths, around the Comba area of the city, in the 2017 Assembly election when party leader Sharmad Raiturkar had contested the poll on the party banner.
That the BJP Margao unit is a divided house is an open secret, but the local party leaders put up a united
face on Wednesday when block president Subodh Govekar addressed the media to announce the
November 4 booth level programme.

Vastarak Yojna was grand success
in Fatorda, says Damu
MARGAO: While the Margao BJP block went to the media for announcement of party's booth level programme, former two-time BJP MLA Damu Naik has said the Vastarak Yojna was a grand success in neighbouring Fatorda constituency represented by TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai.
Damu told The Goan that the programme has concluded in Fatorda with party workers descending at the residences of party workers and well wishers at the booth level. He pointed out that party President Vinay Tendulkar, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar and others had shuttled to Fatorda to be with the people and workers during the programme.
