A day after The Goan reported on growing resentment among BJP workers in Bastora over the party’s choice of candidate for the Aldona Zilla Panchayat constituency, BJP State President Damu Naik on Thursday downplayed the dissent, saying such discomfort is “natural” in an election season and will be resolved.

Naik acknowledged that internal disagreements do arise when multiple local aspirants eye the same ticket. “There is bound to be certain misgivings with the choice of the candidate when there are more than one or two aspirants. Some discomfort will always be there,” he said.

However, he maintained that the party machinery would ensure unity before polling day. “We will work to bring everyone together. Finally, all our workers will unite and work for the victory of the candidate,” Naik asserted, expressing confidence that the Aldona campaign would move forward without disruption.

On Wednesday, The Goan had reported that a section of BJP karyakartas in Bastora village had expressed strong displeasure over the nomination of Subhash Morajkar for the Aldona seat, with a few even threatening to work against the official candidate. Dismissing these reactions as routine intra-party turbulence, Naik said the BJP remains firmly focused on its campaign and is confident of consolidating support at the grassroots.
