Blood donation camp held during fire prevention week

As part of Fire Prevention Week, the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services, in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Goa Medical College, Bambolim, organised a Blood Donation Camp on 19th April 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Fire Force Training Centre.  

The camp was inaugurated by Nitin V. Raiker, Director of Fire & Emergency Services, in the presence of Rajendra Haldankar, Deputy Director (Fire), Shripad Gawas, Divisional Officer (North Zone Panaji), Francisco Mendes, Divisional Officer (South Zone Margao), Bosco Ferrao, Assistant Divisional Officer (North Zone Panaji), and Dr Sanjay Korgaonkar from the GMC Blood Bank.  

A total of 60 donors, including officers and staff of the Directorate, came forward to donate blood. This showed the department’s dedication not only to fire safety but also to helping the community.  

The camp highlighted the human side of fire services”defined by care, compassion, and courage. The Directorate continues to spread fire safety awareness through outreach programmes, drills, and educational activities to help build a safer and better-prepared society.
