A stitch in time saves nine. But that was not the case with the breaches of the bundhs in Malar-Divar which went unrepaired for a long time, ultimately resulting in saline water entering inland and submerging the roads during high tide.
When The Goan visited the Inona Khazan bundh, where three breaches have occurred, locals informed that if the breaches were repaired by the tenant association on time, the problems they face of submerged roads could have been avoided.
Further, the locals have expressed surprise that a small job of repairing the breaches is taking eternity, when it should not have taken any time at all.
“The breach is not very big and its repair should not take such a long time,” a local Dattaram Sawant told The Goan.
“During earlier times, even bigger breaches have been repaired,” he pointed out.
Another local, Chillaya Sawant, also concurred with Sawant and expressed anguish over a small job taking way too long.
“It is a small job which should have been finished long back,” Sawant informed and wondered how much more time will be needed for repairing the breaches.
