BSNL outage hits 108 services, new number issued

The ‘108 Ambulance’ services once again faced glitches in their communication gateway on Sunday after Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) lines went down due to what officials described as “uncertain reasons,” prompting Health Department officials to swiftly provide an alternate number for the public to connect with the services.

The outage occurred on Sunday morning, and the Health Department released an alternate number, ‘0832-6656969,’ urging people to use this number if they are unable to connect to ‘108’.

Emergency ambulance services being affected by BSNL lines going down has been happening frequently recently. This year alone, glitches in the communication gateway, which is dependent on BSNL, have occurred on two earlier occasions “ once last week and on January 15. Health Department officials said they are working on a parallel communication line that will switch seamlessly by default if the BSNL lines go down.
