OLD GOA
The Old Goa fire personnel rescued a calf that had fallen inside an unused well near Indira Nagar-Chimbel on Saturday morning.
Duty officer Amit Rivonkar informed that they received a call at around 8.50 am that the calf had fallen inside the 32 deep feet well.
“Immediately I along with firefighters B V Majik, B R Gawas and driver operator S M Pethkar reached the site and began the rescue operation with the help of a ladder and rope,” Rivonkar said.
The firemen tied the rope around the belly of the calf and with the help of the Indira Nagar residents safely pulled the calf out of the well and released it. The rescue operation took over one and half hour.
Rivonkar, however, said that since the well doesn’t have protection around it, it could pose danger not only to animals but small children as well.
“I have already spoken to the owner of the property to build a protective wall around the unused well before any tragedy occurs,” Rivonkar added.
