Addressing a meeting in Curchorem, Parrikar, however, promised to give special attention to Curchorem constituency, if he were to contest from Curchorem.
“After the vote on the GST bill is completed in a special assembly session on May 9, the decision about the constituency that I plan to contest from, whether it is Curchorem or any other place, will be made known to the people,” said Parrikar.
“I felt it was was important that I interact with the people of Curchorem before taking any decision about contesting election from Curchorem,” he added.
“I will keep in mind the offer that I have got from Curchorem constituency and whether or not I will contest from that constituency, I will give preference and special attention to Curchorem.”
“If I contest from Curchorem, locals will have the benefit of two MLAs at their service,” said Parrikar, while hinting at Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, who would have to step down to make way for him.
MLA Nilesh Cabral said his intention to give Parrikar a chance to contest from Curchorem was mainly to ensure development of Curchorem.
