The Velim Congress Block Committee has urged the Chinchinim-Deussa village panchayat to convene an urgent special gram sabha on the proposed road infrastructure project in the densely populated Dandeavaddo area.
The committee said people must be clearly informed whether the proposal is for road widening or a flyover, and that the detailed plan of the National Highways Authority should be placed before affected stakeholders and local residents.
The gram sabha should also address the project timeline, construction phases and expected disruption, as well as the measures proposed to control noise and dust pollution and ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and residents during and after the project.
Outgoing Congress South District president and former Velim Sarpanch Savio D’Silva said the people of Chinchinim and Dandeavaddo deserve a transparent explanation of the proposed work along the densely populated highway.
