Some seasonal tourism businesses have decided to convene a meeting of all the tourism stakeholders under ‘Canacona Coastal Business Community', to give a single ‘voice of content' to the government over what they call growing harassment.
The Canacona Coastal Business Community has decided to come together to voice their concern and will meet at Canacona Municipal hall, Chaudi, on Wednesday, said a source.
Socorro Da Silva, a tourism stakeholder from Palolem, said: "Every year when the season is near, the government of the day is always lagging in spelling out the tourism policy, eventually giving some anxious and uncertain moments to the tourism businesses." "It is therefore decided that we all Canacona Business Community come together to voice our concern, for inspite of ever-increasing cost of living, more taxes are imposed, more documentation is made mandatory for every tourism season, enforcement of new strictures from court and new guidelines adding to the growing list, regulations of beach carrying capacities, no single-window clearance in sight, erratic power cuts, chaotic parking sense, has become a seasonal harassment and giving us sleepless nights," he added.
"No legality status to businesses despite paying all the taxes and constant fear of unpredicted demolition threats' has no end through the entire season," said Da Silva and requested all concerned to attend the meet.
