Candidates with money power   not to get tickets: GPCC chief

GPCC President Girish Chodankar on Monday that the Congress party would not give election tickets in the 2027 Goa Assembly elections to those candidates who contest elections using money power or political influence.

He was speaking to media persons after visiting the Shri Dev Rudreshwar Temple at Harvalem and seeking divine blessings for his future political journey and public work. Congress leaders and party workers from different parts of the State were present on the occasion.

Speaking further, Chodankar said loyal workers who are committed to public service and uphold moral values will be considered for candidature.

Chodankar said that corruption and recruitment scams are currently rampant in Goa and that ordinary people are being deceived in the name of development.

He added that the Congress party would fight against these serious issues and establish a government that truly represents the people.

He further said that the Congress party would fight for the rights of the common people and remain committed to bringing a transparent government.

He also mentioned that prayers were offered to Shri Dev Rudreshwar for the establishment of a people-oriented government.

Criticising the present government, Chodankar said that it has failed to protect the interests of Goa and that corruption has resulted in the betrayal of the people of the State.

Earlier, the president and office-bearers of the Devasthan Committee welcomed Chodankar during the visit. Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira, Dharmesh Saglani, Praveen Blegan, Khemlo Sawant and several other party office-bearers were present at the event.
