Cab driver Royjohn D’Souza, who ferried Suchana Seth to her destination “ in fact to the police station in Chitradurga (Karnataka), played a crucial role in cracking the case but lost the trip fare of Rs 30,000. His vehicle has also been attached.
D’Souza was hired by the Candolim service apartment, where Suchana had checked in with her son and left alone with the ‘luggage,’ to ferry her to Bengaluru by road. The driver fixed a fare of Rs 30,000 and reached the venue around 12:30 am on January 8 with his co-driver.
While he did sense foul in the beginning given that the trolley bag was unusually heavy and Suchana refused to take a flight despite a four-hour-long traffic jam at Chorla Ghat, he was just happy with a late night ride. He followed the instructions of Goa police, assisting them in nabbing the alleged murderer, and is yet to get paid for the journey that was not less than any movie plot. His vehicle has also been attached by the police for investigation.
While the cops claim the tourist taxi will be released to him, upon paying a whopping bond “ probably Rs 10 lakh “ to the court; the entire police force has hailed his support and presence of mind.
“The cab driver, the service apartment’s room boy and the receptionist among others will be felicitated by the police,” the officer revealed.
