A car parked in front of a house in Assagao was gutted in a fire in the wee hours of Monday and the owner has suspected foul play.
The incident is reported to have occurred at about 3 am when the car went up in flames. The rear portion of the car was destroyed causing a loss of about Rs 5 lakh, while the engine remained intact.
The car owner has suspected foul play and said the question of short circuit did not arise as the engine did not catch fire.
A fire brigade went to the site and extinguished the fire, while an Anjuna police team conducted a panchanama.
In another incident in Bastora, a tree came crashing down on a water tanker near the Bholanath washing centre, disrupting traffic along the route. The driver, however, escaped unhurt.
