The decision to hold the site inspection by the panchayat body comes against the backdrop of the directions issued by the TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai to the TCP officials to issue show cause notice on the Mumbai-based realtor to keep work or construction activity at the site on hold.
While deciding to hold a site inspection of the project, the Carmona panchayat has said the next course of action will be decided by the body after analyzing the ground situation after the inspection.
The meeting chaired by deputy Sarpanch Savita Mascarenhas deliberated on the contentious issue in the light of the correspondence received from Ms Raheja Universal dated August 18 and the letter received from the TCP dated August 21 on the subject.
The panchayat body is reported to have decided to rope in a private engineer to assist the body in carrying out the site inspection of Raheja housing property.
Ms Raheja is reported to have written a letter to the panchayat against the backdrop of the decision by the body requesting the realtor to keep work on the project site on hold.
In its letters, the realtor drew attention of the panchayat body that excavation work has been completed for block A Unit N0 4-5and Block I, unit No 3, while further informing the body that they will start work of laying of plinth foundation in these units as per the schedule.
As far as the TCP letter dated August 21 is concerned, Town Planner R M Borkar pointed out that it would not be prudent to accede to the panchayat request for joint inspection in view of the writ petition pending in the High Court citing certain issues and also challenging the technical clearance issued by the TCP office as well as the construction license issued by the panchayat.
