CCMC to start pay parking post monsoon

Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) will start pay parking at new KTC bus stand area, near GSUDA market in Curchorem, after the monsoon.
CCMC Chairperson Vishwas Sawant Dessai said strict action will be taken against those who encroach on the footpaths.
Curchorem town has been constantly facing parking problem, traffic congestion and dust pollution as there are not enough spaces demarcated for parking of vehicles. The recent broadening of the Curchorem Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar junction may have been beneficial for the locals, but people are facing dust pollution due to the ongoing work and the potholes which have developed along the stretch add to their woes.
Recently, Curchorem Shiv Sena leaders had raised these issues and had demanded with CCMC to take up the issues, but the situation has remained unchanged.
When asked what steps have been taken by the Council, CCMC Chairperson Dessai said, “I am aware of the issue, but we should understand that the junction broadening work is going on and due to the work, some amount of dust will arise. When work is finished, then there won't be dust pollution.”
Speaking on the parking issue, Dessai said CCMC will start pay parking once the monsoon is over completely. “Parking space will be made available at new KTC bus stand area with enough parking space for two wheelers and four wheelers and then there won't be parking problem.”
When asked about footpath encroachment, he said shopkeepers and vendors were well informed by CCMC that footpath are meant for people to walk and not to keep their commodities and objects. “If we find foothpath encroachment anywhere, then strict action will be taken on violators,” Dessai added.
