Centre allotted Rs 125 cr for tourism: Shripad

Union Minister of State for Shipping Shripad Naik on Thursday said the Centre had allotted Rs 125 crore to expand tourism business in the State.

Naik was speaking to reporters after a review meeting with Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) officials on Thursday evening.

"We had a meeting on better coordination between the State government, tourism department and MPA to boost tourism activities. We want to expand the cruise tourism business and the Centre has already allotted Rs 125 crore towards this initiative.”

“We have a good future in tourism if the State, Centre and port authorities get together and we also discussed the ropeway project,” said Naik.

The union minister said he also had a review meeting on port projects and it was decided that all future projects in Goa would jointly be taken up by the tourism department and MPA.
