An Indian Coast Guard Ship evacuated a passenger with a medical emergency from a passenger vessel off the Goa coast on Monday evening.
The Coast Guard received a message stating that a 53-year-old Mexican national had suffered a heart attack in the passenger vessel ‘Celebrity Millenium’, which was at sea.
The vessel’s last port of call was Mormugao and it was proceeding towards Mumbai.
Coast Guard Headquarters at Goa, immediately diverted a CG ship which was on area patrol to render assistance to patient onboard the Celebrity Millennium. The CG ship took the patient, the patient’s wife and one medical attendant and headed towards Mormugao harbour.
The Coast Guard then entered Mormugao Harbour at 11.30 pm and handed over the patient to an ambulance provided by agent at Mormugao Port for further medical management at SMRC hospital.

The patient was shifted to the hospital for further medical management,” the Coast Guard said in a post on X.
