Chicalim Sarpanch Seby Pereira has tested positive for Covid and the panchayat has now been closed till Friday while other panch members and staff get themselves tested.
According to reports, Pereira had developed symptoms of fever on September 4 and had gone to get himself tested at the OPD carried out by Cortalim Primary Health Centre PHC in Sancoale.
Pereira tested positive for the virus and the panchayat was sanitised immediately while other panch members and staff get themselves tested. The panchayat has been closed for a few days.
When contacted, Pereira confirmed that he had tested positive for the virus.
"We have been working at the ground level and personally monitoring Covid cases in the village by visiting the houses and getting the areas sanitised. There were initially a large number of cases in the village and I was moving from house to house overlooking arrangements," said Pereira.
"My wife and two children have tested negative. I have opted for home quarantine and I am better. Though I don't have much symptoms, I have had a mild body ache with low level fever as of now.”
“Doctors have advised me three weeks rest and isolation along with my family. I also request people who may have come in contact with me to get themselves tested for the virus," said Pereira.
