Dubbed as an interface between the citizens and the government for hassle-free delivery of essential services and public utility services, the government’s ambitious project Citizen Service Centre (CSC) has finally become a reality in Salcete taluka on Thursday, with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar promising to launch the project in six more talukas by August end, with a further promise to cover all talukas within six months.
Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte informed the Time bound Delivery of Services Act will be implemented now with the launching of the CSC at the South district Collectorate. Services that would be facilitated at the CSC include various certificates such as residence, caste, divergence, income, partition of Land, Form I & XIV, matriz, besides sound permission, natural calamity applications and conversion of land falling under the Revenue department, besides survey plans and Form D.
The CSC will also facilitate various services under the department of Labour and Employment. He said additional services of departments with high citizen interface like transport, agriculture, social welfare and women and child development would be facilitated through the CSC.
“People can apply online as well as offline. Any citizen can submit his application to the CSC for any certificate and he can obtain the certificate upon payment of a prescribed fee without going to any department,” Khaunte said, adding that all certificates will be digitally signed and accessible to citizens on the goaonline portal as well.
“Integration with Digilocker and Aadhar will ensure that any document submitted by the applicant to avail a service need not be submitted again for any other service,” he said, adding that the same can be accessed through his/her digilocker.
In his address, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai said the launching of the CSC in Salcete indicates the government will not neglect any area which is not part of the coalition. He, however, expressed concern that e-services have still not caught up with the citizens in a big way, while stressing the need to create awareness. “We are ready to improve the facility and put a system in place,” he said.
Complimenting Khaunte, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat said authorities should put in place a mechanism so that citizens are not troubled with filling of forms, while Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao made a fervent plea to put in place a system which will make the facility easily accessible to the common man.
Rohan Khaunte, Vijai
Sardesai, MLAs Digambar Kamat and Churchill Alemao, besides Amey Abhiyankar and South Goa Collector Anjali Sehrawat and others attended the programme.
