MARGAO
Litigants, lawyers and citizens cried foul over the delay in hearings of matters listed for the day in the chamber of Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer, Ajit Panchwadkar, on Wednesday.
The day witnessed a rush of citizens in the municipality corridors leading to the chamber of the MMC Chief Officer in the evening, before realization dawned that the parties, lawyers and citizens were waiting for the CO to take up hearings of the quasi-judicial matters.
As the citizens had to wait for a considerable time outside the CO’s chamber, some of them pointed out that the Presiding Officer should take up the cases by sticking to the time schedule.
“The citizens cannot be made to wait outside the CO’s chamber for hours. Matters need to be streamlined in the interest of the citizens,” remarked a citizen.
