Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Saturday has said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has twice visited Guirdolim constituency to drum up support for the BJP candidate as the ruling party has turned jittery over the encouraging response generated in favour of Congress candidate Sanjay Velip.
Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa warned ex-Quepem MLA Chandrakant Kavlekar not to stoop low during the campaign, saying the Congress will not need much time to bring out his misdeeds before the public.
Both the Congress MLAs hit the campaign for party candidate Sanjay Velip in Balli area of Guirdolim constituency. The joint campaign comes close on the heels of the Chief Minister along with Chandrakant Kavlekar and other party leaders holding a meeting at Balli in support of BJP candidate Gokuldas Gaonkar.
Yuri told the media that the very fact that the Chief Minister has twice visited Guirdolim constituency shows the level of frustration in the BJP camp over an imminent defeat in the polls. “This is perhaps the first time that a Chief Minister is personally moving around the constituencies to drum up support for candidates. The Congress is getting good support in Guirdolim as the party is waiting to bring about a change in the State against corruption, crimes and law and order, etc,” he added.
Turning his tirade against Kavlekar, the Opposition leader said the ex-Quepem MLA has no right to go personal against the Congress candidate Sanjay Velip.
