Four candidates will contest elections to the Reis Magos ZP constituency, which has been reserved for women.
There are 18,934 voters in this constituency, which comprises the villages of Reis Magos, Sangolda, Pilerne and Nerul.
The four candidates are Reshma Bandodkar (BJP), Sonal Malvankar (INC), Pragati Pednekar (AAP) and Arlene Braganza (RGP).
In 2022, Sandeep Bandodkar of BJP had got elected by securing 5,345 votes in the by-election which was necessitated after then ZP member Rupesh Naik had resigned to contest the assembly election.
When contacted, Saligao MLA Kedar Naik claimed that except for Nerul, the BJP has completed door-to-door visits in Reis Magos, Pilerne and Sangolda villages.
“Besides, we have also conducted corner meetings in most wards,” said Naik.
Incidentally, Reshma Bandodkar is sarpanch of Pilerne–Marra panchayat and this has prompted Dy Sarpanch Amarnath Govekar, other panch members and former panch Karan Govekar in action mode to ensure the victory of Reshma Bandodkar.
The other candidates, Sonal Malvankar, Pragati Pednekar and Arlene Braganza have also focused on door-to-door visits.
