CM accused of luring voters in municipal areas with ‘jumlas’

PANAJI
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday charged that the bankrupt Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant is luring the voters of municipal areas with “jumla” promises.

GPCC spokesperson Amarnath Panjikar accused the Chief Minister of playing the “fake Momo”. “He has allowed the organisation of ‘coronaval’ with his bag full of empty promises eyeing municipality polls and announcing Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore funds to municipalities under Swayampurna Goa programme. Why is he hesitating to provide help to marginalised sector

and traditional occupations who suffered during the Covid pandemic,” questioned Panjikar.

Congress has been seeking intervention of the government to help traditional businesses of Goa, which suffered loss due to closure of business during the lockdown period. “Unfortunately the insensitive BJP government has completely ignored our suggestion for its selfish pro-capitalist agenda,” Panjikar claimed.

He sought to remind the municipal voters that during the Zilla Panchayat elections, Sawant had promised jobs and now he is boasting of the Rs 300 crore package announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget for 2021-2022.

Congress demanded proof that the money has been received from the Centre to State treasury.
