Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday announced that a Fire and Emergency Services course will be introduced across all Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Goa from the upcoming academic year.

Speaking at the launch of Career Jagor, CM Sawant said the course will equip youth with critical safety, rescue, and disaster response skills. He added that in future, those aspiring to become firefighters would need an ITI certificate.

SCERT Director Meghana Shetgaonkar announced that a dedicated Career Cell will be set up with representatives from government departments and industry. The cell will remain connected with schools to guide teachers, trainers, and students on career opportunities and pathways.

CM Sawant also urged teachers to play a proactive role in career guidance. He said students trust their teachers the most, and teachers understand their strengths well, making them best placed to guide students in choosing careers. He stressed that teachers must stay informed about the wide range of career options available.

He further noted that many bright students scoring above 80% in Class 10 often choose unsuitable streams due to lack of awareness and guidance, adding that it is the responsibility of school teachers to help students make the right choices after board exams.
