While praising the efforts of the party cadres and commending them for making the Assembly election victory possible, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday exhorted them to begin working for the upcoming panchayat elections and also the parliamentary elections in 2024 from now itself.
Sawant said efforts should be made to strive for the party organisation and the government to work in tandem and ensure that the benefits of every government department are extended to the people.
The chief minister was speaking at the BJP event held at the Gomantak Maratha Samaj hall in the capital to felicitate and thank the 'karyakatas' of the party for their efforts in the election.
Sawant, all his cabinet colleagues, MLAs and all BJP bigwigs attended the event. Speaker Ramesh Tawardkar was also present but did not sit on the dais.
Addressing the workers, the chief minister argued that it was not due to the 'division of votes' but efforts of the 'karyakatas' and work of the double-engine government and the various infrastructure projects implemented that the BJP won the election.
Sawant said that the BJP govt will remain in power in Goa for the next 15 years. Addressing party workers Sawant said Leader of Opposition Micheal Lobo is dreaming of forming a Congress govt in 10 to 15 months. “I want to tell him that BJP will be in Goa for next 15 years howsoever efforts the opposition may put in”, he said.
The chief minister also set a target of winning at least 150 panchayats in the upcoming elections and also urged them to begin putting in hard work from now itself to ensure that the party wins both the Lok Sabha seats in 2024.
