Speaking to media persons, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said, "There is no choice for me. I am trying to get the best administrator. Initially, I may appoint a secretary for a month or so. But ultimately I will get someone who is an expert. The Managing Director also will have to be changed."
Aiming at rejuvenation of the bank, the present management of Goa State Co-operative Bank (GSCB) had suggested a roadmap to the State Government. Though the Bank had accumulated losses of Rs 67.83 crore for the year ending March 2016, it had earned profits of Rs 3 crore for the first quarter of financial year 2017-18.
Parrikar had, in the monsoon session of the Assembly, said that the bank was facing capital inadequacy of Rs 120 crore. He had also informed that the National Bank For Agriculture And Rural Development (NABARD) had agreed to give loan to the bank.
