Aam Aadmi Party Vice President Pratima Coutinho on Tuesday accused Chief Minister Pramod Sawant of pressurising the police to file an FIR against her in the recent incident when AAP volunteers had gone to offer a cake to Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa.
Pratima along with AAP leaders, Adv S Tilve, Cecil Rodrigues, Capt Venzy Viegas, Ernest Moraes and other descended at the police station on Tuesday and lodged a counter complaint against the MLA, wife and others.
When the AAP delegation urged the police to register the FIR against the MLA and his wife, Police station in-charge, PI Shivram Vaingankar only assured that the police would inquire and investigated into Pratima’s complaint, adding that the police had registered the FIR against Pratima and others since the complaint had come from the Executive Magistrate.
Speaking to reporters at Dabolim Airport, Coutinho said while she was being targeted, she would still continue her fight for Goans.
"I have been targeted and an FIR has been lodged against me and 100 others and while many AAP leaders were present, including the state convenor, only my name featured on the FIR.”
“I will never shy away and continue this fight even if there are another 100 FIRs against me and I am put behind bars. My sources informed me that despite the police being unwilling to register an FIR, it was done only because Sawant put pressure on them."
