“Students should also know about financial assistance available to students opting for higher education. The education department has tied up with two NGO’s, Antarang Foundation and TCS ION, to provide training to teachers on career guidance.”

Zingade said the webinar is open to all students of government and aided schools, while Swayampurna Mitras and panch members will also attend this seminar.

“Through YouTube, this webinar will be telecast live for students and parents who are unable to attend this webinar in person. Besides, Superintendent of Police Rahul Gupta will also address students on the usage of mobile phones -benefits and its disadvantages,” said Zingde.

Zingade also stated that Goa will achieve 100% literacy in education by December 19.

“The directorate of education has identified 3,000 persons who lack literacy across the State. Out these, 700 persons have been trained and they have cleared the literacy exam conducted by SCERT. The remaining 2,300 persons will be trained by December 19,” said Zingade.

“Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will then announce that Goa has achieved 100% literacy in education on Liberation Day.”

Commenting on plans by Vidhya Prabodhini to shift a primary school in the new building close to waste treatment plant near Nana Nani Park in Porvorim, Zingade said the directorate of education has not given them permission as yet to shift to new premises.

“They have requested for the permission. But the directorate will take the decision only after receipt of feasibility report by our officers,” said Zingade.
