Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday visited the Partagal Math and offered condolences on the demise of Srimad Vidhyadeeraj Teerth Shripad Wader Swamiji who passed away Monday morning.
The chief minister was received at the Partagal Math by Math officials and temple poojaris and was taken to the temple deity where a poojary recited a special prayer.
He then offered floral tributes at the Samadhi of Srimad Vidhyadeeraj Teerth Shripad Wader Swamiji.
The chief minister was then warmly received by Sheeshya Vidhyadist in the Math's Darbar and they interacted for some time on a number of issues such as the floods on Friday and the Covid pandemic.
Sheeshya Vidhyadist informed the chief minister that his installation as Guru (Swamiji), on July 30 would be a low-key affair and with strict SOPs in view of the Covid pandemic.
The Math has affiliations to about 21 Maths outside the State and sources said only half of representatives of those Maths are expected to attend the ceremony on July 30, due to restrictions on crossing state borders.
Sawant said he would be busy with the assembly session on that day and said he would try attend the function briefly early morning.
Before leaving the Partagal Math, Sheeshya Vidhyadist handed over to the chief minister a booklet containing the Math's history.
