Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday assured the Goa Legislative Assembly that strict action will be taken against any individual threatening to demolish houses of local residents in Neura.
“Nobody has the right to break someone’s house. We are here to protect the land and homes of Goans. Action will be taken,” Sawant said, urging Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) MLA Viresh Borkar to file a police complaint.
The CM’s assurance came after Borkar raised serious concerns about the alleged harassment of residents by a project proponent in Neura.
“The proponent claims a private road used by locals is illegal and is threatening to block access, demolish houses and drag residents to court,” Borkar told the House.
He also accused Town and Country Planning (TCP) officials of turning a blind eye to arbitrary land conversions and failing to protect public interest.
Borkar has been consistently raising the issue of illegal land plotting.
