Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday warned that the police will soon crack down on doctors who are practicing with fake degrees and putting the lives of patents to risks.
Speaking to the media on the side lines of the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Fatorda police station on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said instructions will be issued to the police officers to check the degrees of the doctors running the clinics. “if the doctors running the clinics have fake degrees, the police will shut them down”, he warned
The CM’s statement assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of recent death of a migrant in a private clinic after being administered an injection.
On the Margao bus stand, the Chief Minister said that the bus station was given a face lift during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this year.
On the Margao sewerage project, the Chief Minister said the government will go for major upgradation of the long-delayed Margao underground sewerage network to meet the requirements.
As the Chief Minister was leaving the venue, a group of taxi and bus coach operators submitted a memorandum to him with a plea seeking his intervention to allow them to operate and collect guests at the starred hotels and resorts along Salcete coastal belt.
A delegation comprising of some Muslim community members also highlighted their grievances before the Chief Minister in respect of the management of the Jamia Masjid.
