MARGAO
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday issued a stern warning that officials involved in corruption while deciding mutation and partition cases would be suspended or terminated from service.
Responding to media queries about complaints by the South Goa Advocates Association alleging corruption at the South Goa Collectorate in the handling of mutation and partition cases, the Chief Minister said the government would spare no one found guilty of corrupt practices, warning that the officers and staff concerned would be sent home.
He, however, added that the South Goa Collector had initiated stern measures, including reallocating mutation cases to mamlatdars and joint mamlatdars and reshuffling the officials handling these cases.
“Henceforth, the government will not remain quiet. Strict action will be initiated against those involved in corruption. These officers should not stoop so low as to harass citizens. People approach mamlatdars, joint mamlatdars and other officers for various matters, including mutation and partition cases and the Mhaje Ghar scheme. In future, any attempt to demand bribes to settle these cases will invite suspension or termination,” asserted the visibly agitated Chief Minister.
