After recently getting the national Indian Swachhta League (ISL) award in New Delhi, the Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) added yet another achievement by receiving the 'Green Crusader Award' for excellence in beach-cleaning work.
The Divyaj Foundation and Bhamla Foundation awarded the ‘Green Crusader Award’ to the CMC at the Clean-a-Thon in Miramar on Monday.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant presented the award to CMC Chairperson Ramakant Naikgaunkar in the presence of Amruta Fadanvis, founder of Divyaj foundation, and Asif Bhamla, founder of Bhamla foundation, at the Clean-a-Thon function.
Sawant praised the CMC chairperson Ramakant naik Gaonkar and his entire team for doing “excellent work” in cleaning beaches in the municipality.
Others present at the event included actor Jackie Shroff, Ministers Babush Monserrate and Rohan Khaunte, MLAs Subhash Phaldesai and Rajesh Phaldesai, Karan Kundra and choreographer Remo D'Souza.
Jackie Shroff said it is the responsibility of every citizen to clean up garbage in their surroundings.
Divjya Foundation Founder Amrita Fadnavis appealed to the people of Goa to participate in cleanliness drives to ensure that Goa is kept clean.
