"The audacity of Parrikar is shocking, especially in face of strongly-worded order quashing his devious plan in no uncertain terms," AAP's state convener Elvis Gomes said. "Parrikar's disrespect for courts of justice is well known. He has even had to apologise for some of his outbursts when judgements went against his own preference. But this particular issue goes beyond a general contempt for court orders. AAP demands to know the real reason for his defiance. Why is he obstinately refusing to act upon the HC's clear suggestion to install an NGT bench in Goa itself considering the large number of cases from Goa at the Pune bench," Gomes said adding that Parrikar could be acting at the behest of some lobby. "It is clear he is not representing the people's wishes in this case. So whose wishes is he representing? Coal lobby? Casino lobby? Mining lobby? This case leaves little doubt that the BJP-led Govt is anti-environment, anti-people and anti-Goa," Gomes said.
