Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha on Friday said Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's visit at the venue where the feast of St Joseph Vaz was planned will get all the works done faster and on time.
"Preparations for the feast have started and Parrikar asked me how it was going. I requested him to come and have a look at the preparation and with his arrival, all departments concerned will expedite the work and all the works will be done in time," said Saldanha.
Saldanha also informed that the Marina licence had been cancelled by the government and IPB long back and the place was only being readied for the feast.
"Grounds are levelled, roads will be widened, pandal will be put. All facilities like electricity, parking, water, police force, traffic arrangements, fire brigade, 108 for emergency and every other aspects will be taken
care of."
When asked for her message to the group opposing the shifting of feast from the Sanctuary, she said she had spoken to a few members of the group who have said they were not opposing the venue but had apprehension of the marina.
"I understand that a few people have ties with the Sanctuary, but this old church at Sancoale has a direct link to St Joseph Vaz and it is right that the feast should be celebrated here. It was at this church Fr Joseph Vaz had written the bondage and it was here that he had a vision where Our Lady had appeared and given him a message."
