North Goa Collector Mamu Hage along with different officials inspected the various mining pits in Sattari on Wednesday.
The officials inspected the various mining pits to ensure there is no danger to population on account of water accumulation in the mining pits at Pissurlem, Honda, Sonshi and other areas.
Hage along with other officials Sattari Mamledar Kaushik Desai, WRD Assistant Engineer Shailesh Pokale, panchayat secretaries and other officials visited the sites and took stock of the situation.
When contacted, Pokale said efforts have been made to control the water accumulation in the mining pits.
“Special care has been taken to ensure that the situation does not get out of hand. This year, efforts will be made to pump out the water, if needed,” said Pokale.
“The department is ready to comply with instructions by the district collector,” he added.
