The ambitious 7.5 MLD Colva sewerage project is finally ready for commissioning, but the Colva Panchayat has maintained that neither the Sewerage Corporation nor any department has approached the Panchayat body with application forms for the house sewer connections.
In fact, while the notice issued by the Sewerage Corporations specifically states that the house sever connection forms can be collected from the Colva village Panchayat secretary, the Secretary Amol Tilve was categorical in saying the Panchayat has received no correspondence from the Corporation till date.
Tilve told The Goan that he and the Panchayat members were shocked to read a notice issued by the Sewerage Corporation that the house connection forms can be obtained from the Colva Panchayat secretary and the PWD. “Leave alone the house connection forms, I want to make clear that the Sewage Corporation has not even contacted him or the panchayat till date over the matter”, he said.
The Colva Panchayat is expected to deliberate and decide on the Sewerage corporation notice requesting the villagers to collect the house connection forms from the Colva Panchayat secretary.
“In the fitness of things, government or semi-government bodies normally interact with the village Panchayats through the Panchayat higher-ups including the Block Development Officers. In the instant case, no such communication has been received from the Sewerage corporation or the BDO office till date”, Tilve said.
The notices states that the sewerage network laid in the jurisdiction of Colva village Panchayat is being commissioned shortly. “The public can avail the facility of house sever connections for their houses/residences and commercial establishments by submitting application to the PWD office with the payment of requisite fees”, the notice stated.
The notice further stated that the department will carry out the sewerage connection works upon completion of the laid down formalities and payment of requisite fees.
For application forms and further details, the people have been requested to contact the office of Assistant engineer, PWD Vidyanagar, Margao and secretary village Panchayat of Colva.
