The residents have threatened to move for disconnection of their sewerage connections and instead use the toilets at the PWD, sewerage department as a mark of protest if the ground does not improve within the deadline.
PWD, Sewerage Agneo Barros along with his team rushed to Comba near the Vithal Mandir on Monday
morning after agitated residents led by the ward Councilor gheraoed the officials in the PWD office.
Ketan lamented that the PWD officials have failed to effectively attend the overflowing sewage problem since the last six months.
"The patience of the residents is running out. We are helpless. We have instances wherein sewage water has choked toilets of the residents as the main underground line is choked", Ketan said, lamented that the residents have only received assurances from the PWD officials till date.
Executive Engineer, Agnelo Barros told The Goan that his department is aware of the problem and will attend to the issue immediately.
"The line gets choked with plastic and other bottles. We are there to attend to these problems, but the residents ought to have civic sense too", he said.
Replying to a question, he said the problem was attended to in the past, adding that PWD workers would immediately commence work on the overflowing manhole.
