Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has set a six-month ultimatum on the Goa government to complete the renovation works on the historic Lohia Maidan or face a stir.
After paying tributes to the martyrs at the Lohia Maidan on the occasion of Goa Revolution Day, Yuri said though the government has spent almost Rs three crores on the renovation of Lohia Maida, it is unfortunate that the unplanned and substandard work has created inconvenience to all those who use this historic place.
“I demand that the Electric Transformer should be shifted, the Stage needs to be expanded and Public Utilities need to be created immediately. I give an ultimatum of six months to the Government to complete these works, Yuri asserted.
GPCC President Amit Patkar, Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa, South Goa MP Capt. Viriato Fernandes, Senior Vice President M.K. Shaikh and others were also present.
GPCC Chief Amit Patkar said the BJP Government has completely failed in protecting the State of Goa. Every day, one person dies on the Goan Roads due to worst road conditions. “The government is busy organising events. Time has come to start another Revolution against this incompetent Government," Patkar added.
Newly-elected South Goa MP Capt Viriato Fernandes said the faulty policies of the government have resulted in massive destruction of the environment and identity of Goa. "Let us unite to save this beautiful land which was liberated with the sacrifices of the freedom fighters," he added.
