State BJP President Vinay Tendulkar on Saturday expressed confidence that the MGP would stay with the BJP. “The MGP is with us, and will always stay with us,” he told reporters.
When asked who the party’s candidates would be from Mandrem and Shiroda, Tendulkar said, “Let the election be declared first... Then we will declare our candidate.” He added that work in both the constituencies was going on in full swing.

No re-think on contesting bypolls: MGP
MARGAO: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) leader and PWD Minster Sudin Dhavalikar has said that there’s no question of doing a re-think on the MGP’s central committee’s decision to contest the coming by-poll for the Shiroda and Mandrem constituencies.
Asked to comment on MGP’s Central Committee’s decision, he tried to evade a reply saying the party’s position has already been carried by the media. But, when asked whether there’s any question of a re-think on the issue, Sudin shot back “the question of re-think does not arise. The MGP’s Central Committee is the highest decision making body”.
