The ongoing battle between local tourist taxi operators and GoaMiles taxi aggregator flared up again in tourist village of Cavelossim with the Cavelossim Taxi United writing a letter to the Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz on the unhealthy competition by GoaMiles.
Based on the representation received from the Cavelossim Taxi United, Cavelossim Sarapnch Dixon Vaz has convened a meeting with the tourist taxi operators to work out a solution to the issue.
In the representation, the tourist taxi operators complained that ‘GoaMiles’ is taking their business from the starred hotels in Cavelossim, making inroads into the taxi business run by the villagers for over 30 years.
They pointed out that the tourist taxi is operating a queue system manner where everyone has been getting equal opportunities and fair business. “The taxi operation from Cavelossim has been involved in plying high-end taxis by providing taxi service to starred hotels. We never had any issue with the hoteliers and our taxi service rates was decided by the hoteliers and the taxi union,” they pointed out.
The operators requested the sarpanch to solve this problem of the villagers to save the age-old business since they have been self-employed in the business.
