The worker from Odisha who was declared brought dead at the South Goa District Hospital on Thursday, had earlier undergone treatment at the district hospital for acute diarrhoea disease.
Post-mortem conducted on the body of the 50-year-old labourer Debachan Kisan, a native of Odisha has revealed that he has died of pneumonia.
Incidentally, Balli Primary Health Officer Dr Benedita Dias when contacted to shed light on the death of the worker has said information on the matter can be obtained from the State Epidemiologist Dr Utkarsh. Dr Utkarsh, however, in return informed that he has not received information on the death of the Odisha native.
When The Goan on Friday called the Medical Superintendent of South Goa District Hospital Dr Rajendra Borkar to shed light on the death of the migrant worker, who was employed on the fishing vessel at Cutbona, he said the worker was earlier undergoing treatment for acute diarrhoea disease. He, however, hastened to add that the worker was discharged from the hospital on September 3. He was declared brought dead at the district hospital on September 4.
Meanwhile, the post-mortem examination conducted by the medico-legal officers at the South district hospital has revealed that the worker has died due to pneumonia.
What’s, however, interesting to note is that no authority, including the health officials or the district officials were willing to shed light on the exact cause of death since Thursday.
