Confusion over posting of MMC data entry operators

MARGAO

Confusion prevailed over the appointment of 10 data entry operators by the Margao Municipal Council with a letter addressed to the Margao Municipal Council from the office of Director of Municipal Administration stating that the approval  conveyed to the civic body stands withdrawn by the government with immediate effect.

The letter purportedly signed by an officer in the Department of Urban Development and  addressed to the Margao Municipal Chief Officer stated that the approval conveyed by the DMA office stands withdrawn by the government with immediate effect.

Even as the letter from the DMA office went viral, officials of the Margao Municipal Council feigned ignorance over the letter, saying the civic body has not received any such letter.

In fact, when The Goan called up Margao Municipal Chief Officer Manuel Barretto to shed light on the letter from the DMA’s office over the appointment of data entry operators, he was categorical in stating that no such letter has been received by the civic body till date. “I have no idea whatsoever about this letter from the DMA's office”, the Chief officer said, indicating that the 10 data entry operators appointed by the Municipality will continue to work in the civic body.

When The Goan sought to ask the DMA Gurudas Pilarnekar to shed light on the letter, he pointed out that he has not signed such a letter addressed to the Margao Municipality. He, however, said he would find out from the office over the letter.

The DMA office had last month issued approval for the appointment of 10 data entry operators through the  Goa Recruitment Society to work on contract basis for a period of six months.

The 10 data entry operators had assumed duties from February 1, with the Council posting them in various sections.
