CANACONA
Claiming that the Congress manifesto would be specific and achievable, former union minister and Chairman of Congress election manifesto committee Ramakant Khalap appealed to party workers to remain united and to elect their MLA in Canacona constituency.
Khalap was addressing party workers in Canacona, where several demands were put forth for the draft Congress manifesto with a request to include them in the party’s manifesto for the assembly elections.
Among those present at the open session included state congress leaders Elvis Gomes, GPCC Secretary Janardhan Bhandari and Canacona Block President Prahlay Bhagat.
Khalap later segregated the issues as Canacona-specific and state-centric, assuring that the manifesto would be specific and achievable within a time frame and added that the draft manifesto would ready by the month end.
“When the country eradicated polio, plague, TB and several other dreaded diseases, no one talked about them and who had done it, but achieving 100 crore vaccination is now being celebrated as a grand achievement,” said Khalap.
GPCC General Secretary Janardhan Bhandari suggested that the manifesto should be realistic which would reflect ground realities such as roads, water supply, electricity, healthcare and unemployment.
Prahlay Bhagat said the BJP in their 2012 manifesto had assured garbage free Goa, we are closer to 2022 and still garbage is a burning issue all over the State', said Prahlay Bhagat.
Elvis Gomes criticised the Canacona MLA for switching sides on the pretext of development, especially when there were so many suggestions and demands from Canacona.
Others present at the open session included Mahila Congress President Ursula De Costa, Congress spokeswoman Pallavi Bhagat, GPCC Secretary Mahadev Dessai, PCC member Daya Pagi and Kumar Joshi.
