Workers covering a portion of potholed road in Curchorem with mud and giving it a cow dung coat.
SANGUEM
Agitated over the poor condition of the roads all over Goa and more particularly in Curchorem town area and Cacora village, GPCC President Amit Patkar yesterday filled a portion of potholed road in Curchorem using mud and later giving it a traditional cow dung coat.
Castigating the BJP government for the dilapidated condition of the roads, Patkar said that the cow dung and mud filled roads will last longer than the hot mixed roads constructed during the BJP regime.
He said that despite the assurance given by the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that all the potholes on the Goan road will be filled before Ganesh Chaturthi, it is an irony that there has been no improvement whatsoever and the locals all over the State had to encounter severe problems during Ganesh Chaturthi and the immersion processions.
Patkar sought to know from the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant as to how many contractors he has blacklisted for shoddy works during the past five years.
He also said that the protest he held today at Curchorem will be followed elsewhere in the State if the government fails to come with a concrete decision to repair the dilapidated roads all over Goa.
It is pertinent to note here that the roads in Curchorem and Cacora are literally worse and almost non-motorable at many places after they were dug to lay the severage pipeline more than a year ago.
The commuters from Curchorem and those travelling to Sanguem are facing testing times on account of poor condition of roads all along.
