The party has demanded the promoters should be made to pay compensation running into crores of rupees.
Addressing a press conference, State Congress president Shantaram Naik said that the vessel now needs to be examined by experts, and, if necessary, dismantled and shipped out of there.
"Why has no FIR (First Information Report) been filed so far despite the serious criminal negligence. If it were to happen on the road will such criminal negligence have gone unpunished?" Naik asked.
"Is it because if they file an FIR they will have to name Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who is an abettor in this case in the FIR?" Shantaram asked
He added that once there is an FIR filed they should definitely be asked to pay compensation running into crores of rupees.
